Pairin, Dompok, Kurup in rare show of unity

Against simmering anti-BN sentiments amongst the
Kadazan Dusun Murut communities, PBS, Upko
and PBRS leaders came together in the name of religion.

KOTA KINABALU: Three Kadazandusun Murut (KDM) leaders offered each other the hand of unity last night in a long awaited encounter, symbolising their resolve to help Barisan Nasional (BN) win the 13th general election.

Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Joseph Pairin Kitingan, United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (UPKO) president Bernard Dompok, and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) president Joseph Kurup shook hands at a ceremony to hand over RM4.5 million worth of goods to heads of churches in Sabah, here.

In what is seen as a show of solidarity, they are bent on working together to ensure victory for BN led by Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.

Kurup’s son for Pensiangan

position his son for federal level politics.

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) president Joseph Kurup is unlikely to defend his Pensiangan parliamentary seat, a move that is seen as paving the way for his son Arthur’s active participation in federal level politics.

Arthur is expected to contest the Pensiangan seat for Barisan Nasional in the coming general election.

Since early last year, Kurup, the Federal Natural Resources and Environment Deputy Minister, has been touring his constituency introducing his son to the residents.

During the party’s congress last month, Arthur was unanimously made the party Youth chief, a post which automatically makes him one of PBRS’ vice-presidents.

Kurup feeling the heat in Pensiangan

PBRS president Joseph Kurup is desperately trying to
counter claims that the BN government had ignored
his constituency.

KENINGAU: Pensiangan MP Joseph Kurup, worried that his time in power is nearing an end, is doing his best to argue that he has brought development to his rural constituency.

With dissatisfaction growing over the slow pace of development in a state listed as among the poorest in the nation, Sabah Barisan Nasional government leaders are watching their backs as the general election approaches.

Kurup, who is also president of BN component Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS), is no exception.

Beliau berkata, sekiranya pemimpin PBRS terutamanya Ketua Pergerakan Pemudanya Kahirin Bador terlalu yakin dengan dakwaannya bahawa UMNO Pensiangan akan kalah disitu jika diberi peluang untuk bertanding disalah satu daripada tiga kerusi Pensiangan beliau (Taimin) kini sudah bersedia untuk menyahut cabaran itu.

PBRS deputy president Baharudin Nayan joins STAR with 500 others

PAPAR : A one time deputy president of Barisan Nasional component party, Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS), Baharudin Nayan, has quit the party to join opposition State Reform Party or STAR.

The local veteran politician handed over his application form to join STAR to its Sabah chapter chairman, Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan at the launching of its Papar division at the Borneo Paradise Resort in Kinarut near here today (Apr 14, 2012).

“PBS, Upko, PBRS! Are you protecting Sabah’s Rights? replied Edward Linggu, Campaign Director of UBF in response to the press reports quoting Dompok, Mositun and Kurup on the launching of STAR Sabah.

Obviously, the people does not think so and rallying to support STAR Sabah as can be seen by the more than 60,000 supporters signing up in less than 3 weeks. Perhaps, PBRS may not even have the same number of committed members.
