Be sincere on RCI or loses integrity some more, says Dr Jeffrey

Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan
Chairman, STAR Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: The anticipated Federal Government's agreement to finally set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on the unabated influx of Filipino and Indonesian illegal immigrants and dubious Malaysian documents issued to them in Sabah is met with some skeptical in State Reform Party (STAR).

STAR state chapter chairman, Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, who had been flogging this issue for years, said though Sabahans welcome the setting up of RCI, the government must ensure its sincerity and integrity are reflected in the RCI.

He said in anticipation of the Federal Government's announcement on the RCI, he would like the Federal leaders to really consider a few points that are vital to safeguard the country's and the RCI's own integrity.

"We are very happy to hear that the federal government is finally considering the setting up of the RCI, even though it is long over due but i supposed it is better late than never," he said in a statement in Kota Kinablau Friday.

"If the proposed RCI is to work and solve the outstanding problems in Sabah, the following must be considered : The government must be sincere, the Term of Reference must be comprehensive, and members of the RCI should consist of people with high integrity with no political interest and should be good people from Sabah," he said.

The news of the Federal Cabinet purportedly agreement to the setting up of RCI was leaked to a local Sabah newspaper yesterday by an officer of a deputy federal minister from Sabah, V.K.Liew, something that had even irked some Sabahans on why must a junior officer of a Cabinet non-member should announce the setting up of the RCI - something that even the Prime Minister or at least a senior Minister is fitted to do.

Maverick Kitingan who is currently riding high on a resurging support for his STAR also reminded the Federal Government that the setting up of RCI, "if the government is sincere, should be done and completed BEFORE the coming General Election, as many voters in Sabah are foreigners, many of whom are already proven to be in the electoral roll".

  2. The Feds should immidiately establish the RCI,otherwise the recent statement by Dumpok that the PM has assured him that the subject matter would be tabled on the 8/2/2012 is just a silat movement to deflect the many questions by tortured genuine Sabahans,to divert attention to the impending "lucky 13th general election";the BNS are hoping to confuse the voters on all the bluffs that politicians have been doling out to gullible people. All genuine Sabahans should ponder deeply the invasion of Sabah through the treacherous acts of all those despicable people who have conspired to allow those Indonesians & Filipinos to walk into here & dump all these bns politicians to where they belong.Filpin claims Sabah???
