MAS-Air Asia monopoly, State Govt has duty to save tourism industry

Everything must refer to KL. Now even tourists coming

disgusting and damaging consequence of the
subservience of Sabah to KL
By Datuk Yong Teck Lee

KOTA KINABALU, Dec 30, 2011: THE cancellation of MAS direct flights from Japan, Korea and Australia is the latest manifestation of the "KL-centric" decision-making process in our nation today.

"Everything must refer to KL. Now even tourists coming to Sabah must fly an extra five hours via Kuala Lumpur instead of coming direct to Sabah. This is a most disgusting and damaging consequence of the subservience of Sabah to KL. This must change and the Sabah State Government, which labels itself as the fixed deposit of the ruling BN, has failed in its duty to protect and promote the Sabah tourism industry".

Swiss-based Bruno Manser Fund's revelations of
Sarawak Chief Minister Taib Mahmud's billion dollar
business empire is not going to let-up in 2012.
After two decades of environmental campaigning for Malaysia’s Penan tribe (in Sarawak) the Bruno Manser Fund (BMF) is stepping up its fight against local political corruption.

BMF remains one of the few non-Malaysian organisations still campaigning on behalf of the Penan, an indigenous people living in some of the world’s most biodiverse forests in Sarawak on the island of Borneo.

Two-thirds of its forests have been destroyed in recent years for logging or to build palm oil plantations.

By : DR. CHONG ENG LEONG

DATU AKJAN as Chairman of PEKIDA objected to the call to set up RCI on illegal immigrants and Project IC in Sabah. He said amongst other things; could lead to misunderstanding and disunity among the various ethnic groups; RCI was made with ‘bad and evil intention’ aimed at inciting the people of Sabah to hate the BN Federal Government

Shahrizat: Tell me which Umno leader is not corrupted?

We are all corrupted!
Amid signs that Prime Minister Najib Razak's Umno party was fast unraveling, hit by massive graft and infighting amongst its top leadership, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has announced that a special team would be formed to investigate claims that Umno minister Shahrizat Jalil's family had squandered public funds allocated to the RM250 million NFC cattle livestock project on personal items and luxurious assets.

However, instead of appeasing public anger, all eyes are now on the drama at play in Umno. While Shahrizat has hinted she was ready to quit, it is unlikely that she will allow herself to be railroaded or be made an easy scapegoat of by her own party mates.

Racial Tension Threats Against RCI Treason and Scandalous

By Awang Ahmad Sah

“The statement by Pekida Sabah head, Akjan, that the proposed Royal Commision of Inquiry (RCI) would cause racial tension among the various ethnic groups in Sabah is not only irresponsible but scandalous, ridiculous and a treason to all genuine Sabahans” replied Awang Ahmad Sah, the Deputy Chairman of UBF.

All ethnic groups in Sabah including local Suluks and Bajaus have been living together and working hand in hand since Independence in 1963 and have even formed the State Government together and shared the power.

‘Akjan is an Umno frontman’

By Luke Rintod of FMT
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah political activists are taken aback by the outright rejection by controversial businessman Mohd Akjan Ali Muhammad of a Royal Commission (RCI) to investigate the suspicious increase in Sabah’s legal population and the claim that citizenship had been exchanged for votes.

Akjan, a self-proclaimed sultan of Sulu, who made good in the state and is now chairman of the influential Malaysian Muslim Welfare Association (Pekida), took many by surprise when he returned to the public stage after sparking outrage for his claim to royalty earlier this year.

No wonder despite the calls by all parties and all concerned Sabahansto form the RCI, this particular party and its leaders from top to bottom are using every mean to dislodge any legitimate attempt to investigate the issuance of dubious citizenship to foreigners. Akjan himself a benefactor of this party has now allowed himself to be used by the party, for reasons best known to both.

Burak Sem's email to Datuk Najib...

You say in your speech at Sungai Petani that opposition pact is fragile and cannot be sustained because its parties are cooperating only due to their hatred for the Barisan Nasional. Do you think so?

DEC 14 — About my having big time grudges or even hating Anwar Ibrahim, let me say this: Just how do you arrive at that judgment?

Because I don’t write good things about him? Some of these PKR diehards must have a short memory. If they go into my archives, they will see that Umno people are accusing me of being pro-Anwar.

One of them must also be the vermin who insisted that I hate Anwar whenever I wrote something unflattering or not advantageous to Anwar. I advise them, if they want to see the real hate writings on Anwar, to go visit the extreme pro-Umno bloggers.

BN Government is Giving us Rubbish

By Burak S. Sem

I learned a long time ago that a thing called ignorance fosters poverty. In the midst of the impoverished times I grew up in boarding school throughout my years in primary and secondary schools, many times I would ask myself: "how come the Dayak people (orang asal) have it so hard?" "Why do Dayak people struggle so much?"

Did not know this is a deadlly fruit -- is it ?

Star Fruit Can Kill
This fruit can end your life! This is not an April Fool Joke. But a stern reminder to all my readers. We were advised to have a few servings of fruits a day in order to reap the benefits of fruits, right? But obviously this is one big no-no fruit to be excluded from your fruity feast!

In Shenzen, more than 10 people who consumes the star fruit had died. And now a 66-year-old, Malaysian who has been suffering from kidney ailment fell into coma after eating the star fruits.

Most Islamic countries in the world are non-Muslim

What makes a good Islamic country? Is it one where the people dress conservatively (or even severely in the case of women), adhere strictly to the rituals of Islam, where shariah laws apply?

Or is a good Islamic country one that keeps to the substantive teachings of Islam, more concerned with the content rather than the form of the religion? Where fairness, justice, honesty are the cornerstones of government policies and of its citizens' daily dealings.

DAP meet: Leadership spat buries national issues

The Penang DAP convention yesterday barely discussed any issue of state or national interest, for it was overshadowed by arguments over the spat among the party's top leaders.

Several Indian Malaysian delegates who spoke had to be reined in by security personnel as they touched on "very sensitive" issues that had plagued the party over the past week.

‘Restrictions unjustifiable under global law’

By Luke Rintod of FMT

The restrictions range from a ban on street protests and a prohibition on non-citizens and citizens under 21 years of age to assemble peacefully, to conditional access for media to public gatherings.

By Luke Rintod of FMT

UPKO insincere – “Table Motion Or Shut Up UPKO”

By Edward Linggu
“UPKO is insincere and merely “cakap kosong” because of the forthcoming General Elections when its Secretary-General, Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau, said that Sabah and Sarawak should get 34% of the Parliamentary seats” said Edward Linggu, UBF Campaign Director.

Edward added that “UPKO is merely repeating UBF’s Borneo Agenda for political mileage to gain voters support. If UPKO is sincere and means what is says, UPKO should through its three Members of Parliament led by its President, Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, table a motion in Parliament to get the Elections Commission to allocate at least 35% of the MPs for Sabah and Sarawak.”

Paranoid Musa afraid of being exposed

Umno-led Sabah Barisan Nasional has come under attack
for its 'stupid' act of denying civil activist
Haris Ibrahim entry into Sabah.
By Luke Rintod of FMT
KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Umno-led Barisan Nasional leadership came under heavy condemnation for barring civil activist-cum-lawyer Haris Ibrahim from entering Sabah but did nothing to stem the flow of hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants into the state.

Political activist Daniel John Jambun, who was among those at the airport to receive Haris, was fuming that the state government had barred Haris instead of illegal immigrants and criminals from the state.

MCLM chief barred from entering Sabah

Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement (MCLM) president Haris Ibrahim has been barred from entering Sabah and was sent back to Kuala Lumpur on the next available flight.

Contacted by FMT prior to his departure, the lawyer said he had landed at the Kota Kinabalu airport at about 3.15pm.

“I have just been told that ‘atas arahan atasan’ (orders from a higher authority), I have been denied entry. I am still at the immigration awaiting details,” he said.

Astro’s monopoly has short-changed Malaysian TV viewers

Astro hidden slogan for the people
Malaysians are gullible enough to be taken for a long ride by Astro, as the government has given Astro too much leeway. This has caused Malaysian TV viewers to be short-changed and at the same time snuffed out other operators from entering the market and providing better service. Such a phenomenon is only seen in Malaysia, with only one pay TV operator given exclusive licence for 20 years.

Is Shafie Apdal The Hidden Hand Behind KDM Malaysia?

By : SELVARAJA SOMIAH

THE SHADOW boxing by certain UMNO politicians using Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) a Barisan National component in Sabah and the Kadazandusun Murut Association Malaysia (KDM Malaysia) may be a precursor to a battle for the gaddi in Kuala Lumpur.

Sabahans often accuse their politicians of being short-sighted. Judging by the rhetoric’s, lobbying, mudslinging, conniving and scheming by the principal parties, we are actually looking at least as far into the future as the 13th General Elections, parliamentary and state polls, which must be held before 2013.

"What will happen to Dr. Hiew King Cheu and YB Jimmy Wong of Sabah?

GEORGE TOWN: DAP national chairman Karpal Singh today warned certain party leaders against becoming political warlords by circumventing the leadership to promise and announce seats for their cronies on their own accord.

PSM fears dirtiest election ever

By Luke Rintod of FMT
Frequent BN scandals plaguing its leaders including Umno's
Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, who is embroiled in the NFC scandal,
are spurring its loss of credibility.
SUNGAI SIPUT: Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM), a political party that is not a member of Pakatan Rakyat but aligned to it, believes that the ruling Barisan Nasional is poised to lose grip on power in the impending 13th general election, if it is to be a clean election.

PSM secretary-general S Arutchelvan said despite of what Umno, the back-bone of BN, is trying to portray to voters, the coalition is tainted and has actually already lost ground among the rakyat including the Malays, its traditional source of strength.

Bishop has Umno's chief in his crosshairs

Catholic Bishop Dr Paul Tan Chee Ing said he was “aghast at the fear mongering” of Umno information chief Ahmad Maslan who had denounced an opposition party as “agents of Christianisation.”“One would have been led to expect that the prime minister’s strictures against insensitive remarks would be heeded by the delegates to their party’s annual assembly,” commented the head of the Catholic Church in the Malacca-Johor diocese.

Bishop Paul Tan was referring to Prime Minister Najib Razak’s plea earlier this week to Umno speakers at the party’s just begun annual assembly not to utter insensitive remarks because 28 million Malaysians would be listening-in.“But here you have no less than the party’s information chief heedless of the advice given by the PM. And how does he do that? By giving vent to a rant that is fear-drenched and bogey-ridden,” lamented the head of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Malaysia.
