Patrol Boat Incident Poses Question over Naval Readiness to Protect Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: “The “lost and found” incident of the naval patrol boat CB204 clearly uncovers the non-readiness and unpreparedness of the Malaysian navy to protect Sabah and Sarawak in the event of any security threat.   It is a blessing in disguise and should serve as a wake-up call to the federal government to re-assess its commitment to protect Sabah and Sarawak” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, STAR Sabah Chief in commenting on the patrol boat incident which was found after some 30 hours of loss of contact and with its 7-man crew already starving.

Are you saying BN ‘owns’ police and army, Najib?

KOTA KINABALU: Local opposition State Reform Party (STAR) has taken offence to caretaker Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s reference that the opposition parties were a threat to national security.

Accusing Najib of being hypocritical towards security in Sabah, STAR chief Jeffrey Kitingan reminded the prime minister that it was his administration that had ignored the pleas of a former OCPD for help in Sabah and was slow to act on the Lahad Datu incursion.

PM Must Guarantee Safety and Restore Confidence of Sabahans - Dr. Jeffrey

“Now that the fear felt by Sabahans have become a reality, Najib as the current Prime Minister, must not only guarantee the security of Sabahans but he must also restore their confidence because security was the number 1 reason why Sabahans agreed to be part of Malaysia”, said Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, STAR Sabah Chief.

“So far, the Federal Government dominated by Malaya and led by UMNO/BN has not only failed but has put Sabah and its citizens at risks and made Sabah insecure by supporting Muslim rebellion in the Philippines and supplying them weapons, giving them refuge and training facilities in Sabah, and worst by deploying them as voters in Sabah through the ‘Project IC Mahathir’ despite knowing full well that the same group of people from the Philippines have unsettled claim over Sabah” he said.
