Fulfill Malaysia Agreement or Go Separate Ways - Dr. Jeffrey

Kota Kinabalu: “Now that the installation of Pehin Sri Taib as the 7th Governor of Sarawak has taken place, the leaders of Sabah and Sarawak need to focus and speak with one voice that the Malaysia Agreement needs to be implemented and fulfilled” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, STAR Sabah Chief, commenting on Malaysia’s top judge, Chief Justice Tun Arifin Zakaria that Sabah and Sarawak formed Malaysia and that they are key partners in the Federation of Malaysia.

Read facts about "secession"

Ezra Haganez
KOTA KINABALU : What is "secession"? The current trending word "secession" or "seceding" is derived from the Latin term secessio, which describes the act of withdrawing from an organisation, union, or a political entity.
World's history, both in olden days and recent, is astoundingly littered with the act of "seceding". In Americas, Europe, Africa, Indias and even nearby Indonesia the act of seceding has been just too common. Many seceding territories or states did succeed but others were crushed, violently.

Parliamentary Seats are Constitutional Safeguards for Sabah Sarawak – Dr. Jeffrey

Kota Kinabalu:    “Allocation of parliamentary seats for Sabah and Sarawak should not be based solely on population and as though Sabah and Sarawak are equal in status to the States in the Peninsula” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, STAR Sabah Chief, commenting on the view that extra seats will not help Sabah and Sarawak or that Sabah and Sarawak are not entitled to extra seats in the new re-delineation exercise due to its lower population.

Commemoration of Sarawak Independence Recalls Loss of Country's Sovereignty

The planned Borneo Heritage Foundation's activities to commemorate Sarawak independence day on 22 July 2013 is a welcome step forward in the long march for Sarawak independence.

The question is: Was this real independence or was it only a brief illusion?

Sarawak was an independent kingdom ruled by the English Brooke family from 1841 to 1941. Its statehood and identity as a sovereign country was first recognised by the USA in 1850 and then Britain in 1863, long before Malaya's independence in 1957.

By Ezra Haganez

KUCHING: The Sarawak Sovereignty Movement founded on 3 March 2013 and launched publicly on 17 April 2013 has published its Schedule of Demand For Full Autonomy which sets out Sarawak's historic background and its objectives of asserting Autonomy.

Taib’s our ‘chief campaigner’, says opposition

The Barisan Nasional lives on corruption and all PM Najib Tun Razak
can do is to condone such wrong doings, says Sarawak DAP
KUCHING: If Sarawak opposition wins its targeted 16 parliamentary seats in the May 5 general election, it will be due entirely to Chief Minister Taib Mahmud.
Describing Taib as the opposition’s “chief campaigner”, state DAP said “if he does not step down as promised” the likelihood of an opposition win was very high.
In the 2011 state election, allegations of corruption, land grabs and power abuse by Taib and his cronies saw the opposition wrest an unprecedented 15 seats.
Post-election analysis had pointed out a more than 40% swing in voter support for the opposition in the once strong Barisan Nasional frontiers.

Sarawak snubs hero’s last wishes

Joseph Tawie, FMT
KUCHING: The state government’s refusal and dismissal of an Iban hero’s last wish to be buried at the Heroes Grave in Jalan Budaya here has angered his family, fellow police officers and the Dayak community in the state.
Retired Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Wilfred Gomez Malong, 63, died of colon cancer on Saturday and the family was forced to bury him at Kampung Entingan Cemetery after their bid to honour his last wishes was rejected by the state government without a reason.
Gomez, who was awarded the Panglima Gagah Berani (PGB) medal at a young age of 24, was buried this morning with full police honours.

Jabu, be warned: ‘We’ll get you’

There is no law against telling the truth and
questioning the government’s actions, Sarawak
PKR reminds Deputy Chief Minister Alfred Jabu.
KUCHING: When Pakatan Rakyat forms the next government it will investigate all disputed alienation of lands and abuses of power in approving provisional leases over native customary rights (NCR) land to the cronies and family members of Barisan Nasional leaders.

“Definitely, the investigation will also cover provisional leases over NCR land given to [Deputy Chief Minister] Alfred Jabu, his family and cronies,” said Baru Bian, state PKR chief.

Bian did not identify the areas given to Jabu’s family members and his cronies.

S’wak assemblyman quits BN

KUCHING: Controversial Meluan assemblyman Wong Judat has finally resigned from his party Sarawak Progressive Democratc Party (SPDP), a Barisan Nasional component party, after months of speculation.

He said yesterday he resigned because of Julau MP and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (another BN ally) vice-president Joseph Salang’s ‘stubborn’ insistence on defending his seat in the next parlaimentary polls.

But some political observers here are of the view that Salang is “not the real reason” behind Judat’s decision to quit SPDP.

Near brawl at Sarawak polls briefing

PKR has rapped Sarawak's Assistant Minister of
Youth Development Karim Hamzah for "opening his
shirt" and daring a party official to a fight.
KUCHING: A ruckus at an Election Commission briefing has left the opposition here seething.
Shocked state PKR leaders who attended the briefing said Assistant Minister of Youth Development Abdul Karim Hamzah had behaved “like a gangster” towards the party’s Senadin candidate Dr Michael Teo.
According to one of the leaders who declined to be named, during the question and answer session, Teo had claimed that the postal votes cast by uniformed personnel could be manipulated if the ballot boxes were not placed at the tallying centres after voting process. Teo also alleged that it might lead to vote tampering.
“Karim became angry and told Teo to stop asking stupid questions. Teo then replied that he was not talking to him but to the Election Commission chairman and other officials.

‘I’m prepared to go to jail again’

Sabah STAR chief warns Sarawakians against letting Umno into
the state, alleging that the party is nothing but 'trouble'.
By Joseph Tawie of FMT
KUCHING: Sabah’s political maverick Jeffrey Kitingan is readying himself for prison. If it happens, it will be the second time he is jailed for defending Sabah’s rights.

“Yes, I am prepared to go to jail again to defend, what I term, the legacy of the 20 points upon which Sabah agreed to join Malaya, Singapore and Sarawak to form the federation of Malaysia,” he said when asked by FMT.

Jeffrey was in Sarawak over the weekend to meet supporters of the United Borneo Alliance (UBF) which he chairs. UBF has been pushing the Borneo Agenda which calls for the reinstatement of the 20- and 18-Point Malaysia Agreement which Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore signed with the Federation of Malaya in 1963.

Sarawak Land Robbing Cowgate

By Burak S. Sem, Senior Correspondent
Ladies & Gentlement,
I read in FMT, Alfred Jabu answered YB Violet Yong, “do not import Datuk Sahrizat’s cowgate scandal” in his proposal to make Sarawak to become a beef exporter and be self-sufficient in beef through SEDC. In my opinion, Alfred Jabu is right when saying that, because Datuk Sahrizat cowgate scandal swindled RM250 million from the state coffer for his family luxuries is going to be different compared to Taib Mahmud/SEDC scandal. You can imagine, to build an industrial cattle farming require at least few thousand hacters/acres of lands, but where the hell does Alfred Jabu going to get this size of lands for the cattle farm?

Guns, threats won’t scare us, say natives

If the government continues to remain aloof from clashes
between natives and oil palm companies, then it should
be prepared for a bloodbath.
KUCHING: Despite two attempts on his life by workers allegedly from Palm Raya Pelita, Semawi Anak Renang will not be intimidated in defending his native customary rights (NCR) land and that of 25 other families.

Instead the threats against him and the other landowners of Rumah Randi, Selangau, have made them more determined than ever to defend their 3,000 hectares of land.

The landowners claimed that the Palm Raya Pelita oil palm plantation is owned by Tiong King Sing, the MP for Bintulu. Tiong is also the deputy president of Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) and one Peter Hii.

Of Sulu, Muslim sultanates, and Sabah and Sarawak leases

The Sultan of Brunei who originally ruled Sabah ceded it to the Sultan of Sulu in 1704 as a reward for helping suppress an uprising in his domain. In 1878, the Sultan's successor, Jamalul Azam, leased the territory to William Cowie and Baron von Overbeck for 5,000 Malaysian Dollars.

Overbeck was then the Austrian consul at Hong Kong and former local manager of the British opium firm of Dent and Company.

This territory rightfully belongs to the Sulu Sultan

Sabah must be returned to Phillipines and Sarawak must be returned to Brunei.

Sarawak 49 years with Malaysia

By Burak S. Sem

KUCHING: Here we go again, another year celebrating our Independence Day, 31st August for the forty-ninth times! There are many things that we can be thankful for in the Sarawak! Yes, we in Sarawak know how to smile in the midst of adversities and misfortunes.

Federal Government or Colony Government

By Antonia Chiam

Top Federal dept post: Situation causes dissatisfaction
KUCHING: Government officials from Sarawak are not given ample opportunity to hold high positions in federal-level departments even though they possess the qualifications to do so.

Nancy Shukri
This situation has caused dissatisfaction among civil servants in the federal departments in Sarawak, causing a decline in their commitment, said Batang Sadong MP Nancy Shukri.
During the recent Budget 2010 debate, she said the government’s move to replace the competency level evaluation system with a more suitable one was laudable.

DayakBaru thoughts
Sarawakian Civil servants are treated as secondary to  those from Malaya
Under the 18 point agreement the Sarawak Civil service should be turn over to Sarawakian. Now we have Sarawakian working in the Federal Department but ALL their bosses in Sarawak are from Malaya. The civil servants felt that their contribution and participation in the civil service is not appreciated. The question that arise now is ” why are Sarawakian working in the civil service treated like second class government servant?” This has led to the perception that Sarawak is treated like a colony to Malaya instead of an equalpartner in Malaysia.
