Protect Natives Rights, Stop Eviction and Destruction of Ulu Sugut Villages

Kota Kinabalu: “The Sabah government should protect native rights to native customary lands and stop the eviction and destruction of the village lands, plants and crops in the 3 villages of Kg. Malinsau, Kg. Wayan and Kg. Sinurai in Ulu Sugut, Ranau” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, STAR Sabah Chief voicing out his concerns on the reported destruction of the village lands and crops by the purported registered landowner with more than 100 alleged foreigners which started on Thursday.

Syarikat Malaya rampas tanah adat Ulu Sugut

Kami buntu kerana apabila kami hubungi wakil rakyat tiada respon. Mungkin pagi esok beberapa ekar getah akan siap diradu.

Piped Water and Flush Toilets Failed to Reach Sabah Despite 50 Years - Jeffrey

Kota Kinabalu: “It is tragic and almost sinful that despite 50 long years in Malaysia, piped water and flush toilets have failed to reach suburban and rural Sabah.  It proves the failed promises since 1961 of development and progress to be given to Sabahans when persuading Sabah to form Malaysia” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, STAR Sabah Chief when commenting on the untold story presented by Tan Sri GhaniGilongat the recent forum “The Formation of Malaysia – The Untold Story”.

BN rep urges Musa govt to fulfil promises

Ranau has had a string of elected representatives
at state and federal levels over the past 40
years but clean water has remained elusive.
KOTA KINABALU: A Barisan Nasional MP from Sabah has joined the chorus of criticism against the state government led by Chief Minister Musa Aman for failing to provide piped water to scores of villages in the interior of the state.

Ranau MP Siringan Gubat said villagers in his constituency have been relying on dirty water for their domestic use.

Speaking after a protest last week by some 60-odd villagers, Gubat said: “The people are relying on the water supply from the state-owned agency Rural Development Corporation (KPD) which is only meant for farming. This water is not fit for human consumption.”

Poverty in Ranau

By Luke Rintod of FMT
RANAU: Surrounded by the rural-most parts of several poverty-stricken districts bordering it, Ranau is often considered better off than its neighbours. But that’s a misconception. It is well in contention for the poorest district in Sabah.

An undulating land, famed for its vegetable terraces at the foothills of Mount Kinabalu, Ranau is still known for its rustic and hard lifestyle.

Here in Ranau, basic amenities are few and far between.

Ranau could be the poorest district, says STAR

By Ezra Haganez
RANAU : Ranau, a district surrounded by the rural-most parts of several poverty stricken districts, could be the poorest in Sabah, claimed State Reform Party (STAR) divisional head for Ranau, Jalibin Paidi.

Jalibin said, while it was never mentioned that Ranau is the poorest, the fact that it is at the centre of Sabah and that it is adjacent to the notoriously rural parts of Kota Marudu, Beluran, Tongod, Tambunan, Keningau, Kota Belud and Tuaran districts, might have concealed real facts on poverty in the district.
