Baru must win, says Lajim in Lawas

At Baru's Kg Siang-Siang residence. Lajim is second from right, sitting next to Baru, while Patrick Sadom was giving speech.
LAWAS : Sarawak Keadilan chairman, Baru Bian, must be returned again as Ba' Kelalan assemblyman at this state election to ensure continuity and also prepare the state to embrace an impending new Fkederal Government.

Baru's counterpart in Sabah, Datuk Lajim Ukin, who is currently campaigning for Keadilan candidates in Sarawak, said based on his excellent service and being the state Keadilan chairman, Baru should retain again Ba' Kelalan.

Sabah parties should work with Keadilan — Lajim

KENINGAU: Keadilan Sabah chairman Datuk Lajim Ukin said Sabah local parties need to work with national parties if they are serious to help resolve state and national issues.

He made the call in Bingkor when officiating a Keadilan’s state-level Christmas celebration at Kampung Merampong near here last Ssaturday.

Perayaan Krismas merupakan perayaan universal yang disambut meriah dan penuh semangat muhibah pada tiap bulan Disember di seluruh dunia.

Election Court allows BN’s petition for Klias

The Barisan Nasional's election petition succeeds, and a full
trial has been ordered for the Klias state seat in Sabah.
KOTA KINABALU: The Barisan Nasional has succeeded in its election petition for the Klias state seat in Sabah with the Election Court deciding to have a full trial to hear the case.

The court’s decision in allowing the first GE13 election petition, could pave way for an by-election, the second since the May 8, 13th general election.

The decision is likely to court protest by the opposition pact Pakatan Rakyat, whose election petitions so far have been dismissed with high costs.

Anwar plays political poker in Sabah

Sabah Pakatan Rakyat is yet to consolidate its list of
candidates as it toys with STAR and SAPP.
KUALA LUMPUR: With nominations just days away, speculations are rife that Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim is engaging Jeffrey Kitingan’s State Reform Party (STAR) in a 11th hour bid to find a solution to what promises to be a crippling election for Pakatan Rakyat if it remains adamant and uncompromising on Sabah seats.

Nomination is set for April 20 and by tomorrow all state Barisan Nasional component parties would have announced their list of candidates.

Trouble in Sabah: PKR’s ‘ori’ vs ‘photocopies’

Anwar Ibrahim must come up with a quick solution
to douse the growing resentment between
original members and newcomers
KOTA KINABALU : There’s  a new catch-phrase greeting in Sabah PKR’s political circles and it is greatly divisive. The greeting is “PKR ori” or “PKR photocopy?”.
“PKR ori” refers to genuine members of the party while “photocopy” addresses those with Angkatan Perubahan Sabah (APS) and Pakatan Perubahan Sabah (PPS) who “refused” to be members of PKR.
APS is led by Tuaran MP who was once deputy president of Upko, Wilfred Bumburing, while PPS is by Lajim Ukin, a former federal deputy minister, who is also Beaufort MP.  Lajim was with Umno and is often referred to as Umno’s westcoast warlord. Their ‘defection’ was much heralded by opposition Pakatan Rakyat.
These parties are now “parked” under Pakatan and and have declared their support of Anwar Ibrahim, PKR’s de facto leader.

Datuk Seri Panglima Lajim Ukin Pengerusi PPS

‘BN govt does not care for Sabah’

Former deputy minister Lajim Ukin told Parliament of the
failures of the BN government to Sabah voters.
KUALA LUMPUR: Former Umno deputy minister Lajim Ukin told parliament that the Barisan Nasional government has no time for Sabah. He said this was despite the state’s loyalty to the federal government all these years.

Lajim, who is Beaufort MP, also indicated his support for the opposition after he had remained quiet over his political leanings since he quit the government, applauding Pakatan Rakyat’s promise to raise oil royalty payments to 20%.

Sabah is rich in oil and contributes some RM22 billion of oil revenue annually but enjoys a mere 5% return in royalty while government allocations to the state, one of the poorest in the country, is said to be comparatively low.

Lajim still a good bet for opposition

KOTA KINABALU: Irrespective of what blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin (RPK) writes and Barisan Nasional leaders reveal, Sabah MP Lajim Ukin is still a good investment for Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Among his constituents and ardent local political observers, the currently much-talked about Beaufort MP may still win big in the coming polls.

They opined that the former federal deputy minister of housing and local government, who jumped from ruling Umno to the opposition side recently, would win in least two parliamentary and three state assembly seats.

Lajim’s defection is not Umno’s loss

PETALING JAYA: The real reason why Sabah veteran politician Lajim Ukin resigned from all his posts in Umno and threw his support behind Anwar Ibrahim’s Pakatan Rakyat was because of a scandal that is about to explode, popular blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin said today.

He said that Lajim had realised that he had no future in Umno and that he would not be selected as a Barisan Nasional candidate for the coming general election.

“Lajim is carrying too much baggage. And this baggage is going to be revealed immediately after nomination day of GE13,” Raja Petra said in his Malaysia-Today portal today.

Tales from the East

Now, while Lajim’s financial backer, a Bruneian who migrated to Sabah, is known as Mr. W., Lajim is known as Mr. J. And Mr. J. stands for ‘Mister Jackpot’.  Mr. W. and Mr. J., in fact, go way back, back to the days when Lajim was still in Usno. And Mr. W. has been funding Lajim’s political career all this while. But Lajim suffers from a serious addiction. And this addiction is gambling (so much for Lajim’s Islamic credentials).

Lajim to set up new political party in Sabah
The new party, if approved, will field candidates for the coming general election.
(Bernama, 31 Aug 2012)) -- Former Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Lajim Bin Haji Ukin will set up a new political party as a vehicle to field candidates in the upcoming general election.

Is Musa on his way out?

Rumours are rife that Najib Tun Razak will soon give
the nod for Musa Aman to be replaced by an interim CM.
KOTA KINABALU: Increasingly embattled Umno may be forced to do a rescue reshuffle of the party hierarchy in Sabah in the hope of retaining its political hold on the state.

Reliable party insiders here said the reshuffle would involve no less than the top posts in Sabah Umno and the state government – both currently held by Musa Aman.

Musa’s leadership is being openly challenged by his own colleagues.

Just who is jumping here?

Once again it is the season for political frogs to jump in the Wild Wild East. To be fair to these politicians, they don’t see themselves as “political amphibians”.
If you know Lajim, you would know that he is not that smart with smartphone. Earlier this year, he joked that he owned three smartphones – one for personal use, one for Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and one for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. And when one of the phones rang, he did not know who was calling him – his wife, Najib or Anwar.
ONE MAN'S MEAT By PHILIP GOLINGAI, The Star
THIRTEEN more Sabah politicians will jump. That was the rumour in Sabah after Umno’s Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin and Upko’s Datuk Wilfred Bumburing announced they had become PKR friendly MPs.
“Who?” I asked when told on Monday, a day after the weekend jumps.

‘Lajim’s political calculation wrong’

KOTA KINABALU: Beaufort MP Lajim Ukin quit the Barisan Nasional to join Pakatan Rakyat as he believes that the opposition front will topple the federal as well as Sabah state government in the 13th general election, a senior ruling coalition leader said.

“Lajim ditched Umno for Pakatan to be able to contest Beaufort and likely a state seat.

“Winning the MP seat will pave the way for him to be a minister in a Pakatan federal government or having a state seat, a ticket to be Sabah chief minister,” Sabah Umno liaison deputy chief Salleh Said Keruak said today.

Value of Lajim, Bumburing exit debatable

By Luke Rintod of FMT
KOTA KINABALU: As Wilfred Mojilip Bumburing and Lajim Ukin prepare to render their speeches for their respective functions today,  political analysts here have a mix reading of their decision to leave the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition for the opposition.

It is debatable whether their withdrawal is an act of  betrayal of people’s mandate or a vote of no confidence on their former bosses.

For the record, today, July 29, the two Sabah BN parliamentarians are ‘officially’ set to throw their support for Pakatan Rakyat, witnessed by its leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Make it a clean cut from BN

STAR's Sabah Information Chief, Edward Linggu
KOTA KINABALU: Barisan Nasional MP Wilfred Bumburing’s speech today potentially to announce his exit from his party Upko and the ruling coalition will be closely monitored by Kadazandusun leaders in the opposition.

Said State Reform Party (STAR) information chief Edward Linggu: “We trust that he will also leave behind all his government posts to show his sincerity as the people will view him with suspicion if he leaves with one leg still inside the BN state government.”

West Malaysian politics toying with Sabah

It’s common knowledge that Shafie dreams of becoming Sabah’s next chief minister and that Lajim who holds sway over westcoast Muslim in Sabah is an important ally for him. Rumours of Lajim quitting Umno began last year and was as quickly “settled” when another speculation broke that Shafie, who is Rural Development Minister, had appeased Lajim with a RM150 million road project.

WIKISABAH
It’s finally arrived, the official announcement that Sabah Barisan Nasional MPs Lajim Ukin and Wilfred Bumburing have quit the coalition.

Lajim, who announced his withdrawal in front of 500 people at Kampung Bukit Kallam on July 18, said: “I will sacrifice my RM20,000 monthly pay and perks as a minister for my struggle to uphold Sabah’s rights and fight corruption and cronyism.”

STAR's Direction for Sabah Crystal Clear - Dr. Jeffrey

STAR Sabah’s direction is crystal clear and the clearest amongst all the parties in Sabah.  STAR Sabah seeks the restoration of Sabah as 1 of 3 equal partners in Malaysia and its struggle is made clear with the Borneo Agenda and its 7 core demands” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, STAR Sabah Chief, in response to Lajim’s statement published in the Daily Express yesterday.

Unlike the recent remarks by a Sabah Umno leader, Sabah and Sarawak are not equal to the States in Peninsular and, more importantly, Sabah and Sarawak did not join Malaysia as the 12th and 13th States.
