D.O. Should Not Play Politics With Excuses

Kota Kinabalu: “It is a sad day for the civil service when the District Officer tried to play politics to justify his refusal to open up the Batu Sumpah monument on Malaysia with excuses and lies. It may be better that he ask to be transferred out of Keningau to protect the good name of the Sabah civil service” said Dr. Jeffrey in response to the so-called explanation of the District Officer that STAR Sabah applied to hold the Malaysia Day commemoration service.

“If the District Officer wish to recall, I applied for permission as the State Assemblyman for Bingkor and the request was not made under STAR Sabah party as alleged by the D.O.” stressed Dr. Jeffrey.

Chased out first by police, now Mara

Families of former Sabah "Border Scouts" were shocked
when MARA officers said they were told by Sabah Land
and Survey Department to have a look at 10 acres of
their 45 acre settlement.

KENINGAU : Days after families of former Sabah “Border Scouts” or “polis pengakap sempadan” aired their worries of being chased out from their settlement a second time by their own former employer, the PDRM or Royal Police of Malaysia, another federal agency has taken an interest to take over part of their 45 acres here.

Families of those aged and some ill former warriors of Sabah’s border were taken aback when a group of officers claiming to be from MARA or Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) came to their settlement and took pictures of the areas last week.

Piped Water and Flush Toilets Failed to Reach Sabah Despite 50 Years - Jeffrey

Kota Kinabalu: “It is tragic and almost sinful that despite 50 long years in Malaysia, piped water and flush toilets have failed to reach suburban and rural Sabah.  It proves the failed promises since 1961 of development and progress to be given to Sabahans when persuading Sabah to form Malaysia” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, STAR Sabah Chief when commenting on the untold story presented by Tan Sri GhaniGilongat the recent forum “The Formation of Malaysia – The Untold Story”.

I am still young and capable: Pairin, 73, to contest two seats again

PENAMPANG: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Joseph Pairin Kitingan said he would defend his Keningau parliamentary and Tambunan state seats in the 13th general election.
The Sabah Deputy Chief Minister who had been politically active since 1975 described his bids as his last battle to retain both constituencies for the Barisan Nasional in the interest of the people.
On the party’s other candidates, he indicated that there would be new faces in the line-up.

State Government Failed Founding Fathers on Sabah Independence: STAR

“The State Government has failed Sabah’s founding fathers in failing to commemorate the 49th anniversary of Sabah Independence on 31 August” said Melvin Jaikul Datuk Imbayan, STAR Keningau Division Vice-Chief while overseeing the preparations for the 49th commemoration by STAR Sabah to be held in Keningau on 31st.

Efforts of Founding Fathers on Independence Not Acknowledged

Sabah’s history and independence cannot and should not be denied by the current State government.  Why should the independence of Sabah on 31 August 1963 be relegated to the annals of history and covered up?

Clean water, dirty loan

KENINGAU: Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s sudden announcement of a RM235 million loan from the federal government to Sabah to upgrade water supply for Keningau alone has caught many here by surprise.

Most people here were sceptical of Najib’s announcement during his trip here last weekend.
One economist from Kuala Pemyu, Dr James Alin, questioned the motive behind the abrupt decision to grant Sabah a loan and not a federal grant, as was the normal procedure.

Sabah natives protest Malayan rule

KENINGAU: As Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak went about wooing support for his embattled government in this interior district of Sabah, he was kept blissfully unaware that the natives here are restless.

The stage-managed show of support for the federal government which is bitterly resented here for failing to raise the quality of life in one of the richest states, was in stark contrast to the heartfelt show of protest and call for freedom just down the road in a tamu (local bazaar) ground.

Awkward weekend foray for Najib

By Luke Rintod of FMT
KENINGAU: The people in the interior divisions of Sabah are preparing to use the weekend visit of Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, the third this year, as an opportunity to deliver a strong message about what they feel about his party, Umno, and his leadership style.

Najib will be in Keningau today (Saturday) to officiate at the national-level Kaamatan Festival and then he moves to nearby Tambunan in the weekend to launch the ground-breaking of a Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS)-initiated KDM College.

STAR: Keningau National Kaamatan Is Political Campaign

KOTA KINABALU: The State Reform Party (STAR) is naturally thankful for the establishment of the KDM College in Keningau, but contends that there is nothing special about the whole thing and that the BN is blowing the whole publicity about it out of proportion.

In a statement here, STAR Sabah Chairman, Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan said that the building of one community college for every parliamentary area has been decided for quite a long time now, and that this is just one of them.

“The KDM College is actually a community college, not one with a special purpose for the KDMs,” Jeffrey said. “And it is definitely not due to the special efforts of the PBS that the college is going to be built. And the college is not being built especially for the KDMs but for the Keningau community.

KENINGAU : Today May 10, Keningau Star received reports from two local women vegetables sellers at the weekly tamu being conned into giving money to a man who claimed he was arranging government aids for kampong folks.

These two women told us the smartly-dress man claimed to represent one “Farida” from Wanita UMNO and was to identify needy folks of cash money of RM1,500 and other aids from the government in the form of building materials for their houses.

Old lady dies in a hut waiting for "hijacked" PPRT house

By Dr Nicholas James Guntobon
KENINGAU :
Two days ago, an old lady, a bona fide Sabahan, in her 70s who had been living alone for years in an old shack (look at the hut in the piucture) in Kampung Ulu Kauran near here died without seeing her application for a more decent house under PPRT being approved after years of pleading.

Kg Ulu Kauran is in Liawan, and was not allocated a proper Kampung Development and Security Committee (JKKK). The kampung was put under the JKKK Kampung Ulu Patikang instead.

Umno hand in ‘new’ illegal settlement?

By Luke Rintod of FMT
KENINGAU: An open recreational area meant for residents in a low-cost housing project here has “magically” turned into a settlement overnight for about 1,000 illegal Filipinos and Indonesian immigrants.

To make matters worse, Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) poles were allegedly put up at night to “supply” power to this illegal settlement, when thousands of other poor Sabah native kampungs are still living by kerosene lamps.
