Anwar after Hindraf over Ministry of Orang Asal and Minority Affairs (Moama)

By Joe Fernandez

Is Jayathas of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), allegedly Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim’s newly-recruited political mandore from Hindraf, trying to say the NGO should not be registered just because his boss doesn’t like it?

It appears to be so judging from his song-and-dance act on Sat at a press conference, for his 15 minutes of fame, on the subject.

Hindraf, or any organisation, has a right to be registered. It's the Registrar of Societies (ROS) which plays politics with registration, on the instructions of Umno, until the matter ends up in Court. Umno doesn't own the ROS.

Lu Kacau Gua, Gua Kacau Lu – Hindraf under Star symbol and flag in Malaya!

By Joe Fernandez
It’s confirmed! Hindraf Makkal Sakthi will be fielding candidates in Malaya under the Borneo-based State Reform Party’s (Star) symbol and flag in the forthcoming 13th General Election on May 5. Star is a national party.

Star chairman Jeffrey Kitingan, in a text message a little while ago said: “Let Hindraf be a big surprise.”

Hindraf chairman P. Waythamoorthy in a text message confirmed: “We are still finalizing the list.”

Malaysia has an Evil side that bears watching!

By Joe Fernandez
Dr Paraman, as usual, has put together a thought-provoking piece -- Hindraf critics are demonising the victims in http://english.cpiasia.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2503&catid=219&Itemid=189 -- and no doubt with the help of subject matter experts on several related issues.

No one can deny the arguments being made and which can continue to be made among others by the Indian Nation in Malaysia, the largely stateless underclass in particular.

Waytha of Hindraf goes hunger strike for Indians

Hindraf’s Leader and Chairperson today has taken another momentuous decision to begin a “HUNGER VIRATHAM” in continuation of Hindraf’s pursuit for justice, dignity and equality for the Indian marginalized and poor. 50 years of oppression and unfulfilled yearnings for a just and dignified life triggered the outpouring of 100,000 Indians onto the KL streets on the 25th of November 2007. Since then much water has flowed under the bridge, but very little has changed in the lives of the Indian marginalized and poor.

Hindraf formalizes strategic partnership with Sabah, S’wak activists

KUALA LUMPUR: Hindraf Makkal Sakthi, which prides itself on being a hydra-like ad hoc apolitical human rights movement straddling the divide in Peninsular Malaysia, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Kuala Lumpur on Tues 14 Aug, 2012 with veteran activists in Sabah and Sarawak. The MOU formalizes a long-running informal and ad hoc arrangement, a strategic partnership, uniquely spanning both sides of the South China Sea.

The MOU, being kept for the moment under wraps as a document, will take effect on Sept 16, the day Malaya, Singapore, Sabah and Sarawak ostensibly came together in 1963 as equal partners without referendum and without a genuine written Constitution to form the new Federation of Malaysia.

ACCEPT your karma BN, stop the foolishness and re-issue Waytha’s passport

ACCEPT your karma BN, stop the foolishness and re-issue Waytha’s passport
Hindraf Makkal Sakthi chairman Waythamoorthy Ponnusamy wants to return home after over four years in involuntary exile in London where he has political asylum as a human rights advocate. His homecoming, with or without an international passport, has been set for Aug 1.

Waytha would like to return home in dignity but apparently the Home Ministry isn’t playing ball. The Ministry is yet to advise the Malaysian High Commission via the Foreign Ministry to issue Waytha with a passport. He travels at the moment on a UN document issued by the British Government. Suhakam the Malaysian human rights organisation, if it’s worth its salt, should take note of Waytha’s predicament. The same goes for other NGOs in the country.

Hindraf's Civil Action against the UK Government on behalf of the Indian marginalized in the UK courts today the 2nd of July 2012

On the 2nd of July 2012, Hindraf files a civil action on behalf of the marginalized Indian community in Malaysia against the UK Government in the High Court of Wales and England calling into account the British Government for their role in the antecedents leading up to the severe marginalization of the Indian poor in Malaysia today.

The key questions that Hindraf seeks answers for in this civil action are:

1) If the British are solely responsible for the presence of most of the Indian poor in Malaysia today, do they also not share responsibility for what is happening to the Indian poor in Malaysia today? After all the Indians were brought into the country by them under their watch for over 150 years. It is now just over 50 years since they left.

No Putrajaya for PR without total Indian support

By Joe Fernandez
The consensus at the grassroots level is that the 13th GE won't see a repeat of the 2008 political tsunami in Peninsular Malaysia despite the alternative media because the vital Hindraf Makkal Sakthi factor, representing the Indian underclass in particular, will be missing this time.

The reasons are aplenty.

Bersih under super duper rich lawyer Ambiga Sreenivasan won't be able to help Pakatan Rakyat (PR), especially Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), compensate for the absence of Hindraf.
Amibiga is no match whatsoever for Hindraf. She doesn't represent the Indian underclass. She continues to get the support of the Chinese and Malays, the converted, for PR but the Indians, the crucial factor, is missing. Attacking Ambiga in racist terms is not going to make the Indians come rushing to her defence.

Inaugural HINDRAF ABU Forum at Dewan MBSA, Seksyen 30 Shah Alam violently disrupted by Samseng Jalanan

Today is the first time the regime has chosen to use youths, some of whom look like they are in their teens, to threaten and harm their fellow citizens who are engaged in a legitimate expression of their right to free speech and assembly.

N. Ganesan, National Advisor Hindraf Makkal Sakthi

The inaugural HINDRAF and ABU forum planned at Dewan Orang Ramai MBSA, titled "Tamatkan Rejim UMNO/BN" was violently disrupted by a gang of youths on motorcycles.

The event started at 9.20 pm, and within minutes of the speakers taking their seats on stage, a group of Samseng Jalanan rode their motorcycles into the venue, with horns blaring in an attempt to disrupt the proceedings.

Hindraf launches global e-Petition against racism

GEORGE TOWN: Hindraf Makkal Sakti has launched a global cyber e-Petition against Malaysia’s perceived racism.

The London-based Hindraf leader P Waythamoorthy said they are targeting some 100,000 people worldwide to be signatories of the petition, which would be forwarded to relevant international bodies and governments, including the US government and the European Parliament.

HRP fears crackdown before anti-Umno’s racism march

The Human Rights Party (HRP), which is organising the ‘People’s March in Solidarity Against Umno’s Racism’ on Feb 27, claims they have been subjected to intimidation in a move to thwart its efforts.

The demonstration is to protest against Interlok, the controversial novel that Form Five students use as a literature text.

As political landscapes move they are always preceded by a change in the political discourse driving them. Old ways of looking at society and how it gets summed up into its politics have great inertia. These are entrenched into society by the power elite, who are the beneficiaries of the old system. Even as the old politics loses it moral basis, these forces of conservatism work to maintain status quo. These conservative forces keep trying harder and harder to maintain the status quo as the situation gets increasingly pregnant with the need for the new. New participants armed with ubiquity of information, new devices of communication, a new sense of the past and a new morality unleash great forces for change.

The new morality is sensed at the fringes, and against great resistance, work their way in to the centre. The story of that Great March to the centre is told here in first person narrative by Uthayakumar in the events leading up to the Grand Hindraf Rally of the 25th of November 2007. Even as this story is being told another unfolds within it. This story within the story is of how, issues that were considered taboos and sensitive for public discourse were breached, and how new ground was broken in the national discourse since.

Is the Sultan of Johor promoting further annihilation of minority’s rights?

P. Waytha Moorthy, HINDRAF chairman

The recent statement by the Sultan of Johor in relation to the constitution has thrown to light for what seems to be a veiled support to encourage the neo-fascist movement…

LONDON: The recent statement by the Sultan of Johor in relation to the constitution has thrown to light for what seems to be a veiled support to encourage the neo-fascist movement PERKASA with their antics based on the purported Federal constitution.

The failure by the Sultan to recognize and acknowledge the second limb of Article 153 that provides for legitimate interest of the non-Muslim will only provide credence to PERKASA to continue their shenanigans hand in hand with UMNO against the non Muslims.
