Redelineation Must Restore Sabah Sarawak Constitutional Safeguards - Jeffrey

Kota Kinabalu: “The redelineation of parliamentary constituencies must take into account and restore constitutional safeguards for Sabah and Sarawak and ensure that federal parliamentary seats for Malaya should not be more than 65% as agreed upon from the outset during the formation of Malaysia”said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, STAR Sabah Chief, when asked to comment on the proposed redelineation exercise to be undertaken by the Election Commission.

The uniqueness of the special position of the Borneo States in the formation of Malaysia has resulted in constitutional safeguards being agreed upon and provided for to ensure the rights of Sabah and Sarawak were not diluted or removed over time by the federal lawmakers from Malaya.

EC's chief: 'What detergent do I use to clean electoral roll?'

NONEIt is not possible for any country to ensure its electoral roll is 100 percent clean, the Election Commission (EC) says, for the list will be affected by daily occurrences of deaths as well as changes in addresses as people move about the country.

"If I clean today, tomorrow someone dies and it is not clean again...

"How clean do you want it to be? What kind of detergent do we need to use?" EC chief Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof told a press conference in Putrajaya today.

He stressed that in spite of revelations to the royal commission of inquiry (RCI) on immigrants in Sabah, the electoral roll for the state - and for the rest of the country - was as clean as these could be made.

Putrajaya will not win stand-off with Bar Council

By Joe Fernandez
It appears that the current Najib Administration has forgotten the bitter lessons learnt during Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad's long innings in office when he, the frightened little man he was by default in office, openly and shamelessly rooted for extreme coercion as his preferred modus operandi.

It's not so much that Prime Minister Mohd Najib Abdul Razak is calling the shots in the current stand-off with the Bar Council of Malaya on the proposed Law Academy in the wake of Bersih 3.0.

STAR may contest in 60 seats in Sabah, says Dr Jeffrey

KOTA KINABALU : The State Reform Party (STAR) may contest in all 60 state assembly seats and 25 MP seats in Sabah, said its Sabah chapter chairman, Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, here today.

He said this after a briefing by the State Election Commission on new election rules to STAR and protem USNO leaders at the EC's office at the Federal Secretariat in Likas.

Tindak Malaysia challenges EC to a public debate

Civil society movement, Tindak Malaysia today issued a challenge to both the Election Commission (EC) and the Public Select Committee (PSC) to a public debate on how clean the electoral roll is.

The proposed dates have also been suggested – either on April 20, 21 or 22.

Its founder, Wong Piang Yow (for the Chinese press, 黄炳耀) who has submitted over 100 proposals on how to improve the electoral process to safeguard the interest of voters’ rights, said it is time that both the EC and PSC debate with concerned members of the public (Tindak Malaysia) on this important topic which, if broadcast, “live” on RTM will allow Malaysians from all walks of life to decide on the commitment of Prime Minister, Najib Razak’s administration to cleaning up the electoral roll.

Anwar exposes how EC conducts 'massive fraud'

The de facto leader of PKR today exposed opposition claims of how the Election Commission (EC) was conducting “massive fraud” in manipulating the voters roll.

NONE“I shall prove it and give a specific example,” assured Anwar Ibrahim (right) at a press conference in parliament lobby.

He then furnished reporters with a printout of an EC voter search to show how a voter with her name and IC numbers already registered in Pulai Johor was  re-registered as a new voter in Pekan, Pahang.

“This is how they do it. If they had entered the same data, the computer will reject it. So they added a slash (/) after the IC numbers in the new registration,” he alleged, holding up the printout.
