Amir Kahar quit job, and later UMNO, to fight BN in Banggi

By Christian Danial
KOTA KINABALU : Sabah Barisan Nasional especially UMNO, is set to lose one of its northern chieftains, Amir Kahar Mustapha, who yesterday quit his UMNO-appointed job, and made known public his intention to "stand in the coming general election".

He quit the post of Inspector-General of Projects, an unglamorous post created to be of ministerial-status but which has little clout and notice.

Amir Kahar, a son of Sabah's first Yang di-Pertua Negara, Mustapha Harun, was briefly a former deputy chief minister under PBS government.

Cracks appearing in Sabah Umno?

By Luke Rintod of FMT
A Sabah NGO - United Suluk Community Organisation (USCO) -
has, strangely enough, decided to move into ‘active’ politics.
KUDAT: Speculation is high that former deputy chief minister under a PBS-plus government, Amir Kahar Mustapha, is about to quit Umno and join an opposition group.

The former Banggi assemblyman, who is the eldest son of ex- Sabah chief minister, the late Tun Mustapha Harun, is said to have been approached by the members of the Suluk community here to represent them in the opposition in the coming election.

June 10 ‘victory’ for Lajim-Anwar?

By Luke Rintod of FMT
KOTA KINABALU: Lajim Ukin, the influential Umno warlord in the south-interior of Sabah, is said to be “definitely” ditching the party to join not the Sabah People’s Front (SPF) as rumoured, but PKR.

Reliable insiders claimed that the Umno supreme council member and MP for Beaufort is preparing for a June 10 exit and that Pakatan Rakyat coalition de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim himself would fly to Sabah to receive not only Lajim but also scores of other Sabah Umno and United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation leaders.
