Fixed deposit: Najib is insulting the people of Sabah

KOTA KINABALU:  Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak once again insulted the people in this state by reiterating Sabah as a fixed deposit, described by Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee as insensitive to the feelings of the people in Sabah who mostly do not believe such tag.

“Najib is insensitive and the statement is an insult to the people of Sabah,” said the SAPP President when commenting on the PM’s statement who stated that the state will remain a fixed deposit for the Barisan Nasional (BN).
Sabah remains a fixed deposit to the BN and the 13 component parties unanimously supported it including the people in the interior.

Najib who campaingned in Tenom recently also rejected the notion that the fixed deposit tag is getting weak.
Yong said Najib’s statement is insensitive and insulting to the people of Sabah because majority of the people believe that it is only a sweetener by the BN to blind the eyes of the people to gain more votes.

The former Chief Minister once predicted that BN will no longer be able to call Sabah as its fixed deposit after the 13th General Election.

The people will cast their vote on May 5.

The dissatisfaction on the economy thrust and policies that are affecting Sabah will affect the result of the general election this time.

Among the issues that are burdening the people but never resolved is the issue of illegal immigrants, issuance of identification document and the use of the IC to vote.

Normally, phantom voters would cast their vote for the ruling government because that is the condition for the BN government to issue ICs to them.

The SAPP also voiced the concern of consumers in Sabah on the high price of goods compared to in other states in the country even though the BN Government had promised to settle it.

“What is the use of the state as a fixed deposit if the Barisan Nasional leaders are busy fighting for their own interest and not for the welfare of the people,” said Yong.

He sees the trend of dissatisfaction among the low and middle-income people in Sabah as an advantage to the SAPP and other opposition parties.

“They will vote for the parties that listen to their grievances,” he said.

The question now, he said, is whether Sabah becomes important to the BN only when they want to retain their power.

“Is Sabah now important as a fixed deposit because it is rich with natural resources and use the wealth to finance other states and then leave Sabah as the poorest in Malaysia?” he asked.

He also questioned what will the government do to protect the welfare and interest of the people in Sabah including social and economy problems, illegal immigrants and backwardness in terms of development.

“Is Sabah only important because the BN need its political powers and Sabah’s natural resources?” he asked.

Whenever there is a general election, leaders from the Federal will come to Sabah in numbers every week because they are aware that Sabah is important for them to maintain power in Putrajaya.

  1. OPPOSITIONS TRYING TO CONFUSED PEOPLE! SABAHANS ARE WISE TO JUDGE THE BEST FOR THEM! THE KNOW THAT... Malaysia can be bankrupted by opposition promises

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Wednesday said he feared that Malaysia could go the way of some European countries and plunge into bankruptcy if it gave away everything free as promised in the election manifesto of the opposition pact.

The prime minister said the country would be eventually at the mercy of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and would have to beg for assistance.

The manifesto of the opposition pact was baseless and was drawn up purely to garner the people’s support in this general election, he said when addressing the people at the Ranau community hall.

The manifesto had promised, among other things, free education and the lowering of fuel prices.

“The opposition pact has made all kinds of promises, but is there anything free in the world? Nothing’s free in this world. Like the Europeans say, there is no such thing as a free lunch.

“Why did some European countries become bankrupt? It’s because they did not manage (their economies) well. They imposed high taxes, gave no incentives. Then there is the black economy, taxes were not paid, in the end the economy crumbled.

“If this can happen to European countries, it is not impossible for it to happen to our country. It can happen to Malaysia, if we implement all that is promised in the manifesto of the opposition pact,” he said.

  3. OPPOSITIONS TRYING TO CONFUSED PEOPLE! SABAHANS ARE WISE TO JUDGE THE BEST FOR THEM! THE KNOW THAT... Malaysia can be bankrupted by opposition promises

Also present at the event were Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman; the BN candidate for the Ranau parliamentary seat Datuk Dr Ewon Ebin; the BN candidate for the Karanaan state seat Datuk Masidi Manjun; the BN candidate for the Paginatan state seat Datuk Sirigan Gubat and the BN candidate for the Kundasang state seat Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam.

Najib said Finance Ministry officers had calculated that if the opposition manifesto was implemented, the country would have to borrow money for salaries and subsidies within a year.

“If we have to borrow money for salaries and subsidies, it means we are going to become bankrupt. However, if we use the national revenue to build schools and make available the infrastructure for investment and for the comfort of the people, we will drive the economy further and bring more prosperity to the people,” he said.

Najib said Malaysia under the administration of the BN government was well managed, so much so that the national economic growth registered 5.6 per cent last year.

“We are among the countries well advanced in terms of the economy. Under the BN administration, I must admit that the Sabah BN government led by Datuk Seri Musa Aman had recorded achievements, among them the biggest budget and reserves.

“In this way, we find that the country continues to progress. When there is progress, we will return the wealth to the people, by way of the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M), 1 and 2,” he said.

Najib gave the assurance that BR1M 3 would be better than BR1M 2 and so on, with the sum rising in stages.

“In this way, our economy will grow, the people will be happy and when they are happy, they will give their undivided support to the BN,” he said.

As such, Najib wanted the people of Sabah to reject the opposition, which he said only made empty promises, and give strong backing to the BN.

    1. HIDUP BN UMNO! SUPPORT BN RULE TO THE END!

SUHAKAM REPORT IS A PACK OF LIES! OPPOSITION "PATRIOTS" ARE LYING ABOUT “NEGATIVE BN 50 YEAR MISRULE”!

Fully support pro-BN comments made here! BN is doing the right thing!

Reject what the critics are saying that Malaysia has failed to provide “security and prosperity to Sabah” and calling loyal BN supporters as “traitors” as totally false!

For example it was recently reported that Sabah Proham member Simon Sipaun said:

“I have seen houses of poor villagers which had been burnt by enforcement personnel. They lost their padi, gongs, documents, etc.

“What sort of uncaring government is this?

Corruption is rampant and getting worse. Many rural people have no access to health, medical and educational facilities,” he said.

He added that Singapore which was kicked out in 1965 should be thankful that it was ejected from Malaysia and noted that Brunei was wise for opting out."

We all remember how shocking and outrageous it was to all Malaysians when he said "life was better in Sabah before 1963".

It was a great shame for us even if this statement was absolutely true. But why?

Such comments are designed to make BN look bad. BN is doing its best to raise Sabah from the last 50 years of poverty caused by plundering of Sabah under British colonial rule! It will take more than another 50 years to rectify the damage to our economy done by the British plunder. So the people must be patient and wait for development Dr. Mahathir correctly assessed.

      SABAH HAS AUTONOMY!

The Opposition is jumping up and down about “autonomy” but PM Najib says they are still intact! It is a shame someone said that “a virgin raped cannot be intact”!

They constantly scream about their 20 Points Agreement and that it is Sabah's right to control its resources and finances. They need to understand while all agreements are binding the reality is that for any government to function it must have regular revenue and Sabah possessed much resources which as Dr. Mahathir said still need to be exploited for Malaysia's development.

Thus it was necessary for our UMNO BN Government to take strong actions to improve the economy with the Petroleum Development Act 1974 to take control of Sabah and Sarawak oil and land (Felda scheme and others) to implement the NEP positive discriminatory system to benefit the bumiputras and install the cabotage system which are run efficiently by Government Linked companies.

The privatisation of communal land is an important step to create income for the land owners. It is a shame that many owners do not understand and resists the government's positive acts of taking land for development. It is unclear who burnt the poor people's villages and the BN government would never take such drastic actions despite the allegations.

    2. SABAH CONTRIBUTE 25% TO MALAYSIA DEVELOPMENT

Thanks to an average of RM$150 billion annually from Sabah and Sarawak great improvements in infrastructures have been made in “Malaya” as the opposition loves to call our mainland Peninsular.

These improvements have raised the international profile and reputation of our motherland Malaysia. Look at the Twins Towers and Putra Jaya which the envious critics call the Sabah Sarawak Twin Towers and shamelessly “Putridjaya”.

At least we can take pride that our oil money contributed to these world famous buildings even though they are not in Sabah or Sarawak.

Sabah is only contributing about 25% ($70 billion) in total oil and tax revenue for Malaysia's development. It is an honour to make this sacrifice as it shows our loyalty to Malaysia and UMNO BN government.

It has been very generous of the BN to grant us RM4.5 Billon last years for our development. The rest of the funds have to be shared with Sarawak and the other 11 sisters peninsular states. This is a responsibility Sabah and Sarawak must bear as a price and honour to be the 12th and 13th state of Malaysia.

Our esteemed Dr.Mahathir did say Sabah and Sarawak are like “colonies” and that they have to wait for development. Now as these bloggers' comments on this page and elsewhere are saying more improvements are on the way and we should not complain!

We understand that Dr. Mahathir has a strong sincere personal interest to promote the welfare of Sabahans and Sarawakians with his family and associates Government Linked Companies which are specially favoured to generate income for these companies which will trickle down to the poor people in terms of employment etc.

Dr. Mahathir as the PM for 22 years had revived the Bakun Dam with Sarawak CM Taib and through his GLC's have completed the Dam which mow supplies electricity to benefit the aluminium smelter in Mukah.

This Bakun venture involving both the good Doctor and CM Taib's GLCs. Their GLCs made over RM20 Billion and this helps to keep the money in the country so foreign companies don't take our the profits. This is also what CM Musa Aman has been doing for Sabah. We should appreciate that they are so patriotic and caring for our young country of only 50 years!

The allegations of environmental damage pollution and health hazards are being tackled. This will happen if we have to industrialise and bring the people out of their underdeveloped state of existence. The Mamut mine disaster caused by Japanese mining over 20 years ago was even worse and this is also being fixed up.

Sabah must make sacrifices so as to develop the whole country.

It is a price we have to pay to be in Malaysia.

    Tersukan perjuanganmu BN!
