Ansari questions PKR’s choice of Ku Li’s men

Tuaran PKR chief Ansari Abdullah will lodge an official
complaint with ROS about APS’ involvement in politics.
TUARAN: Tuaran PKR division chief Ansari Abdullah has accused PKR leaders of preaching and practicing ‘fake justice’.
“How can we proclaim ourselves as a party that is fighting for the people’s justice when we can’t even ensure justice within the party?”
He was alluding to the PKR central’s contentious decision to field members of Angkatan Perubahan Sabah (APS) led by former deputy president of Upko Wilfred Bumburing.
Bumburing is contesting under the PKR ticket for the Tuaran parliamentary and Tamparuli state seats. Another APS candidate is Gulabdin B Enjih who is contesting the Sulaman state seat.
Ansari, a lawyer, has questioned the propriety of APS joining the fray since it is supposed to be a NGO, which he said is contravening the Societies Act.
He said he would lodge an official complaint with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) on the matter.
According to Ansari the only bonafide PKR candidate is Rhodes B Panilau for the Kiulu state seat.
“After 14 years of hard work building up the party in Sabah, I only manage to get one PKR member to stand as a candidate while Amanah (APS) got three candidates, courtesy of Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, who is currently still a Umno member,” he lamented.
Bumburing is a vice president of Razaleigh-led Angkatan Amanah Merdeka (Amanah) which  seeks to reinstate the policies and spirit expounded by first prime minister Tunku Abdul Rahman,
Razaleigh, popularly known as Ku Li, is an Umno member and is defending his seat in Gua Musang in Kelantan.
Genuine members dropped
In his Facebook posting yesterday, Ansari cynically congratulated Razaleigh for the successful nomination of the two Amanah-APS members.
“Flashback (to) March 1999, (Datuk) Yahya Lampong, Abdillah Hamid and I left Umno to join Bersekutu, a party led by (Tan Sri) Harris (Salleh) with (Datuk) Monggoh Orow as secretary-general.
“(Datuk) Yahya rejoined Umno, I joined Parti Keadilan Nasional (PKR) when it was launched in April, 1999. Monggoh, Harris and Abdillah lost. I turned down the offer to contest under Bersekutu.
“Present – Yahya in PPPS, Monggoh in APS and I am still in PKR as ahli MPP (national supreme council member), ahli MPN, Pengerusi Zon PBU & KC Tuaran.
“I am not a candidate this morning but Yahya will be. I heard that Monggoh might be a last minute candidate.”
Ansari and Tuaran division members had earlier yesterday worn black armbands to the nomination centre in Tuaran.
He was accompanying his daughter Erveanna to file in her nomination papers as an independent candidate for the Tuaran parliamentary seat.
When asked by reporters about the black armband, he said  it was a protest by the division against the “hijacking” of three out of the four ‘Letters of Authorisation’ for its candidates by non-PKR members.

  2. The Barisan Nasional (BN) is on the right track to develop the nation and look after the wellbeing of the people, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman. In this regard, he said, the BN had never deviated from the responsibility and trust placed by the people throughout its administration of the country. That's why we must support instead of the oppositions! Musa said it was most important for the people to retain the BN government so that it could continue the policies and plans drawn up to develop the nation.

  3. State PKR leader names candidates early as a show of 'autonomy'. In the end, some of the PKR members got duped. WHILE the Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) is raring to face the 13th General Election as a united and cohesive team, the opposition appears to be fragmented despite their common objective of unseating the ruling coalition. Support BN! Support Transformation!

  4. As it stands, the election is expected to see two opposition camps -- one comprising of peninsula-based parties and the other Sabah-based parties -- taking on the BN in the land below the wind.

  5. This follows the failure of the loose coalition of opposition parties made up of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), DAP and Pas to reach a compromise with local-based Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) and the Sabah chapter of the State Reform Party (STAR) on a single candidate to fight BN in every seat.

  6. After being rejected as "small parties without much support" by PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee-led SAPP and Sabah Star headed by political nomad Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, have agreed in principle to cooperate in the election.

  7. There is also a possibility of a fourth force made up of PKR leaders who will likely leave the party if their demands to be fielded as candidates are ignored by the PKR leadership.

  8. State PKR stalwart Ansari Abdullah had last week announced the names of divisional leaders as candidates in seven parliamentary constituencies, contending that they have been working very hard for the party over the last five years.

  9. Ansari's move appears to pre-empt the likely possibility that incumbent Tuaran MP Datuk Seri Wilfred Bumburing and incumbent Beaufort MP Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin, who threw their weight behind the PKR last year, might have their own list of prefered candidates for the seven seats.

  10. Word has been making the rounds that Anwar had given Bumburing and Lajim the power to choose PKR candidates for several parliamentary and state seats as part of the deal for them to ditch the BN.

  11. It is learnt that the seven parliamentary seats eyed by divisional leaders aligned to Ansari are said to be seats Bumburing and Lajim have asked to be given a say on who should be the candidate.

  12. The seven included Ansari, who declared himself as the PKR candidate for the Tuaran parliamentary seat which Bumburing as its former MP hopes to defend.

  13. Many PKR divisional leaders, who claimed to have been working very hard to strengthen the party at the grassroots level, had from the start feared that the alleged power given by Anwar to Bumburing and Lajim might mean they would be sidelined and not considered as candidates.

  14. "I had sensed it from the beginning that Bumburing and Lajim's move to support Pakatan may throw a spanner in the works of the opposition's hope of making an impact in Sabah," said a PKR divisional leader who spoke on condition of anonymity.

  15. When revealing the names of the seven proposed candidates, Ansari had boldly said that he expected Anwar and the party leadership of Pas and DAP to honour their commitment and assurance that matters involving Sabah will be decided by Sabahans.

  16. "In line with the promise for autonomy (by Pakatan Rakyat leadership), we have taken the liberty to release the names of the seven candidates that have been picked by the respective divisions. This is a test of whether the Pakatan Rakyat party leadership is sincere in its promise to give us autonomy," Ansari said, claiming that the candidates have long been identified, as far back as two years ago.

  17. Speculation is rife that Ansari and his group may either contest as independents or align themselves with SAPP if their demands are ignored by the PKR leadership.

  18. As for the BN, it is all systems go in its quest to keep Sabah as the the ruling coalition's fixed-deposit, although it may face some tough challenges in several constituencies.

  22. The issue over the tussle for the Tuaran parliamentary seat continues, with Tuaran PKR division chief Ansari Abdullah indicating the possibility of the PKR candidate Datuk Seri Wilfred Bumburing leaving PKR to set up his own party after the 13th General Election (GE13).

    ReplyDelete
  23. Ansari claimed that Bumburing, who is president of NGO Angkatan Perubahan Sabah (APS), had failed to fulfil a promise to let him contest the seat.

Speaking at a news conference at his office, Ansari said Bumburing had promised to let him contest the seat on the grounds that he did not wish tos huttle between Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu as he wanted to spend more time with his mother following the death of his father and also because he had recently undergone treatment for a knee ailment.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Ansari also questioned the position of Bumburing, who had won the Tuaran seat inthe 2008 general election on a Barisan Nasional (BN) ticket and then joined theopposition on July 23 last year.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ansari said the decision of his daughter, Erveana Ansari Ali, who is Tuaran PKR Youth chief, to contest the Tuaran seat as an independent candidate was to save the party.
