‘We are ready for Putrajaya’

By Luke Rintod of FMT
KOTA BELUD: Pakatan Rakyat is ready to take over the federal government from the long-ruling and corrupt-ridden Barisan Nasional.

Speaking to some 300 locals at a Chinese school hall here last weekend, DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang said even BN leaders know it and they are now afraid of losing power.

“BN is now afraid of us, they dare not dissolve Parliament. They are really afraid of Pakatan… they dare not hold simultaneous ceramah [to compete] with us now.

“Sabah BN is also afraid of us…” said the veteran politician who is quite an influential figure in Sabah now compared to 15 years ago.

He claimed that Umno-led BN is now harping on the three Rs – race, religion and riots – to spread fear among the people.

“But their ploy will fail as change is inevitable…” said Lim, a former ISA detainee.

Lim also called on Sabahans to be bold in bringing down the BN in the coming general election, claiming that Pakatan is already winning in the Peninsula and would be a much better alternative for everyone.

He reiterated DAP’s unflinching support and pledge to get Pakatan leader Anwar Ibrahim installed as its prime minister once Pakatan forms the federal government.

“Anwar will be our prime minister…” he said to applause from the audience which also consisted of local leaders of PKR, PAS, DAP as well as local-based Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP).

Lim has been in Sabah since the first day of Ramadan and has been giving many ceramah in Kota Kinabalu, Tenom and Penampang.

In recent times, it has become a norm for peninsular-based Pakatan top leaders to drop by in Sabah every time they have the opportunity to do so, and they would go straight to a political talk, no matter how small or big the crowd is.

About two weeks ago, Anwar was in Sandakan meeting as many groups and giving as many political talks in the area, supposedly the bastion of Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman, who is Sandakan’s Sungai Sibuga assemblyman.

He is also expected back in Sabah this weekend.
